Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sell or Trade?
Sell or Trade is our trade-in program. It lets you exchange your pre-loved guitar for a discount on a product from our store or receive direct cash via bank transfer.
What is the Sell or Trade process?
Contact our sales and support team to tell us about the guitar you want to trade in or sell. We’ll let you know if your guitar is suitable for the program.

If approved, you can send your guitar to one of our partner stores for evaluation. Once we’ve verified its condition, you’ll receive either:

  • A discount equal to the agreed trade-in value, or
  • A cash payment via bank transfer equal to the agreed sale value.
What happens to my gear once I trade it in?
Your guitar will be in good hands. The experts at Well Played Gear will receive it and list it for resale on our store.
How long does the Sell or Trade process take?
Once we receive and assess your gear, we’ll process your chosen option, either the discount or the bank transfer, typically within 1-2 working days.
Is Sell or Trade available in my country?
Sell or Trade is currently available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Malaysia.
How do I know if my gear qualifies for Sell or Trade?
We accept most guitars and basses in good working condition, fully functional, complete, and without missing parts. Currently, we’re only accepting guitars and basses.
Can I trade in my gear at a physical location?

Yes! We’ve partnered with Swee Lee and Dawsons, so you can bring your gear to the nearest store to start the trade-in process.

Note: Sell or Trade is only available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Are there any products you won’t be able to take in?

We require traded-in products to meet our quality standards and align with our current inventory goals. We may decline gear that doesn’t meet these criteria.

Note: We cannot accept instruments made with Brazilian rosewood due to restrictions under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).

Is there a minimum value required to qualify for Sell or Trade?
Yes. To be eligible, your instrument must have a final valuation of at least US$1,000.
